AAOCC Meetings
AAOCC “roundtable” meetings are usually scheduled for the 2nd Wednesday of each month, and are held in the school auditorium. The meeting officially starts at 7 p.m. There is also an informal Q&A with the principal beforehand, at 6:45 p.m.
All parents, students and staff of Ann Arbor Open (the General Assembly) are encouraged to attend!
AAOCC meetings provide the main forum for expression of ideas and opinions about school activities and programs. Any member can request to place on item on the agenda by contacting a Co-Chair in advance. All present, including students, can vote on items raised at the meetings.
AAOCC meetings fulfill a dual role with two primary functions: business meeting and community building. The first half of the meeting is the business portion, and includes reports from the AAOCC officers and school principal. The second half is devoted to a “big topic” discussion of interest to the Ann Arbor Open community. Past topics have included: aspects of the curriculum such as reading, math, and Information Technology & Literacy; bullying; the Open Conference; diversity; and “Everything You Always Wanted to Know about Ann Arbor Open.”
